Rozheen et Layla
Two remarkable young Yazidi women endured unimaginable hardships during their captivity under ISIS. Despite the deep scars left by their painful experiences, they chose resilience over despair and determination over defeat. Rozheen and Layla decided to rise above their circumstances and make a positive impact on the lives of their families and other residents of the camp. Determined to seize every opportunity for improvement, they enthusiastically enrolled in the sewing course offered in the camp. Each session became an opportunity not only to learn the intricacies of sewing, but also to regain a sense of autonomy and purpose in their lives. They dedicated themselves to mastering every stitch, every seam, and every pattern, paying attention to even the smallest details.
As the prize symbolized hope and opportunity, Rozheen and Layla did not hesitate to put their newly acquired skills into practice. Together, they pooled their resources and created their own sewing business within the camp, offering their services to meet the needs of other residents. Their small enterprise quickly became a symbol of resilience and empowerment, bringing not only economic stability but also a sense of pride and purpose.
Their story is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human soul, proving that even in the darkest moments, hope can prevail and resilience can triumph.
