Sewing training is essential for Yazidi women, helping them rebuild social ties and
regain autonomy after losing everything. It enables them to progress from beginner
level to a pre-professional level, opening up opportunities for self-employment through
individual workshops or home-based work.
This module is one of the flagship initiatives of the Back to Life program, as it enables
participants to acquire a practical skill that can be immediately put to use
supportingaccess to income and gradual economic reintegration. It therefore
strengthens participants’ autonomy and their ability to engage sustainably in the local
economy. For many women in the Middle East, often isolated and facing an uncertain
future alone, this financial autonomy is a decisive lever for protection, dignity, and
recovery.
